pair of glasses into her hand.
The things were godsends. Staring into that bright light a second longer would
have sent her headache escalating off the charts of pain.
Something splashed into the water above her. Waves rippled around them and the
glasses barely helped in allowing her to focus. Everyone around her moved so quickly
she couldn t get a good view.
The guards around her pulled their guns. Chaos seemed to erupt like an explosion
and several hands grabbed her, pulling her to the side. It took a minute to focus through
all the movement.
Two large objects broke the glare from the light at the entrance as they floated
toward them. The guards moved in around them and then she saw the objects being
pulled closer.
Oh God. Oh shit.
She yanked herself free of the grasp of a guard and Jain, and kicked furiously.
Romair and Jolen had been dropped into the water. Or they d fallen, or something.
Neither one of them looked that good.
But damn. She d never seen a better sight in years.
Ignoring the multiple flashes from cameras as the media struggled to get around
the guards, she grabbed Romair, pulling him into her arms.
At first he didn t seem to move, but then slowly, his arms wrapped around her, and
then his grip tightened. When his mouth found hers, nothing else mattered. Her
surrender and gratitude swam inside her so fast all thoughts of what anyone might
think or say, swept away so quickly she couldn t even remember why it had ever
mattered.
She ran her fingers through his thick hair, tangling her hands in it. He impaled her
mouth with his tongue. His body pressed hard against hers as he held her in a death
grip. Hard muscle stroked every inch of her. His legs kicked slowly against hers. The
world floated away for a moment while the man she loved held her close enough that
their hearts beat as one.
It took more strength than she wanted to manage to break that kiss. She stared into
his dark eyes, seeing red streaks over his cheeks, on his forehead and neck. Physically

Shara s Challenge
he d suffered on the surface. Who the hell wouldn t have being up there as long as he
had? But damn if he didn t look sexier than she d ever seen him look in her entire life.
And the way he looked at her, knowing her thoughts, sensing her emotions, the
warmth that rushed through her didn t have a damn thing to do with the intense light
coming from the surface.
He smiled, the small scar on his lip adding to the crooked grin he gave her. All-
knowing, very satisfied, looking more sure of himself than she d ever seen him look in
her life. With one look he let her know he understood her thoughts, and was damned
glad she d finally come to her senses and understood she was right where she belonged.
Guards pushed around them while the media fought to get a better angle on the
two of them. Damn his smug look anyway. Their public display would hit the news just
as fast as meeting the Prime Minister from the surface would.
She ran her fingers down his cheek and then looked over at Jolen who floated next
to him, grinning like a fucking idiot. Cameras blinded her worse than the sun when she
pulled him into her arms and hugged him too.
Good Lord. The press would have a swimming fiasco over this one.
Jain wrapped her fingers around Shara s arm, she knew the touch without looking.
Her personal aide was all business, tugging on Shara and guiding her away from too
many inquisitive reporters. When they kicked toward the surface, Romair and Jolen
were on either side of her where they belonged.
She gulped in hot air and wiped water from her face, looking around at the surface.
Guards had put up a canopy over the small pond of water. Netting fell down the side of
it, adding additional protection from the incredible glare. She floated in water that
probably was a good twenty feet in circumference. Bolsh had created quite a gap
between their world and the surface. But the setup her guards had created made the
setting almost pleasant, a bit warm, but much more tolerable than her first experience
up there.
Romair instantly demanded to be briefed by one of the second commanders. He
glanced at her when she looked at him, but then someone else grabbed her attention
and she looked past him.
On the edge of the water, sitting and splashing with grins that made them look like
children, were three people. Obviously from the surface, their smiles faded when Shara
and the rest surfaced. Two men and one woman stared at them. The woman shaded her
small eyes with her hand, and looked at all of them.
There was no fear, just intense curiosity. She slowly stood, tight shorts and a shirt
the color of her dark skin clinging to her damp body. The men with her stood also,
looking a bit more worried than she did.
My sexy men have returned. And I ll be damned if you weren t serious. These are
your people? the woman asked.
Shara found ground under her feet and stood, walking toward the woman. Her
sexy men? Was this the person responsible for keeping Romair away from her?

Lorie O Clare
I m Shara, leader of South Passage, she said, unable to stop anger and confusion
from gripping at her harder than the heat did. And you are?
Hi there, sweetie. I m Eliza. The woman pulled on her shirt, showing off very
large breasts that hung a bit low on her chest. She smiled, offering a full view of her
brown crooked teeth. In fact, everything but her hair appeared brown. It was very light-
colored and hung in strings over her thin shoulders. The lady was far from pretty, but
there was a glow in her eyes that grabbed Shara s attention. I admit I thought these [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
